Assistant Director of Residence Life - Community Development

Title: Assistant Director of Residence Life for Community Development

Position Summary:
Reporting directly to the Director of Residence Life, the Assistant Director of Residence Life (ADRL) for Community Development is a professional staff member responsible for student and community development in the entire AiPH residential system, including approximately 900 students. The ADRL implements residence hall programs, supervises and contributes to the development of student staff, aids in facility management, monitors student behavior, and responds to crisis situations. The ADRL will provide supervision and guidance to Residence Life Coordinators and Resident Assistants, as needed in the resolution of roommate conflicts. The ADRL directly supervises the Residence Life Coordinators. Additionally, the ADRL is responsible for the selection, training, and supervision of the Resident Assistant (RA) staff. The ADRL will oversee departmental programming, and coordinate housing assignments, in collaboration with the assignments team. The ADRL will participate in open house tours, and other housing operations as needed.

This is a full-time, live-in position requiring duty coverage throughout the academic year and during school breaks.

Key Job Elements:

1. Lead, train and evaluate 24 resident assistant (RA) staff members. Co-train (with the senior staff) the student office staff, coordinate schedules, monitor timesheets, supervise, and evaluate staff performance at least once per quarter. Submit results to DORL.
2. Supervise two full-time, professional Residence Life Coordinators in the leadership of their responsibilities, including, but not limited to RA supervision, judicial cases, and programming.
3. Conduct weekly meetings with resident assistants and professional residence life staff to ensure all areas are being addressed.
4. Manage assignments for new and continuing students, including room change process.
5. Participate in duty rotation with other residence life professionals.
6. Enforce AiPH policies as necessary. Handle disciplinary cases as needed.
7. Work collaboratively with other departments as needed, i.e., admissions’ events, orientation, alumni events, graduation, and public relations.
8. Conduct student satisfaction survey.
9. Track programming and judicial statistics for the department.
10. Oversee desk operations.
11. Serve as liaison to On-Campus Marketing in the management of care packages.
12. Manage student activities budget.
13. Plan Residence Life banquet and other recognition programs for student staff.
14. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
• Master’s degree in CSP, Higher Education Administration, Counseling, or related field preferred.
• Previous experience in student leadership management in a higher education setting desirable.
• Must possess prior residence life/student affairs experience and/or experience working with extremely diverse student populations.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work well under pressure.
• Demonstrated interpersonal, leadership, and administrative skills essential.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
