Technology Support Supervisor

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Title: Technology Support Supervisor

Department: Technology Department

Position Summary: Provide support and maintenance for computer equipment for classroom and administrative technology. Responsible for customer service initiatives, data reporting and inventory control.

Key Job Elements:

  1. Able to perform key job elements of Computer Technician and Lead Technician positions.
  2. Creates standard weekly and monthly reports on labs and technology issues.
  3. Responsible for coordinating resolution of basic network issues.
  4. Updates and changes Technology Department databases. Creates new reports.
  5. Develops data related to inventory. Creates new reports.
  6. Develops tech plan outlines and initial technology needs assessments.
  7. Develops support level and training option outlines for the technical staff.

Organizational Relationships:

  • Reports to: Assistant Director of Technology.
  • Interacts with: Students, staff, and faculty on a daily basis.

Position Requirements:

  1. Associate or College degree with coursework in the related field of Computer Technology preferred.
  2. Hardware and software specific experience of five to ten years should include: HP computers and printers, Apple computers and printers, Windows operating systems, MAC operating systems and graphic output devices.
  3. Demonstrated ability and experience with troubleshooting and maintaining Windows PC and Macintosh hardware platforms.
  4. Experience and knowledge of DOS, Windows (Microsoft Office and other Microsoft products), Macintosh, and UNIX operating systems
  5. Experience with computer networks and standard troubleshooting techniques. Familiar with Active Directory, TCP/IP, DHCP and fundamental network functions.
  6. Demonstrated familiarity with special art and technology hardware and software. Examples include PhotoShop, Illustrator, Premier, Autocad, 3-D Studio Max, QuarkXpress and peripherals such as scanners, Postscript laser printers, film recorders, plotters, etc. Familiar with standard computer lab and imaging techniques, using programs such as Altiris.
  7. Demonstrated familiarity with hardware and software integration of multimedia and animation platforms, including frame grabbers, frame by frame animation controllers, computer controlled video equipment, encoders, decoders, RGB to NTSC converters, etc.
  8. Training in Customer Service skills and techniques.
  9. Skills and experience in database use and design. Including report definition and generation.
