Christopher Hill

Christopher Hill, a 2005 Multimedia & Web Design graduate of The Art Institute of Philadelphia, enjoys working as a Multimedia Design Engineer in the E-Media Products Division of Lockheed Martin. His job involves developing web-based training simulations and SCORM compliant interactive courseware targeted for the Navy. Chris is also part of a special projects team that creates internal web-based tools that increase productivity and improve processes at Lockheed Martin.

His years after High School were spent traveling and studying art. At Age 26, Chris enlisted in the United States Navy; serving 4 years as a Sonar Technician, part of the Navy's Advanced Electronics Field. During his time onboard the USS Hue City, among his many duties, Chris acted as division training petty officer. In this role, he coordinated with the ship's network administrator to post study guides and tools to share with his shipmates. These experiences would prove to be very useful in his future career.

After the Navy, Chris moved back to his hometown and enrolled as a "30 year old freshman" at The Art Institute of Philadelphia. What attracted Chris to the Multimedia & Web Design program was his interest in the intersections between art, science and technology. Chris realized early on the importance of getting involved with as many extra projects as possible to gain new learning experiences. He also understood the importance of networking and utilizing the resources around him to grow as a professional and to better prepare himself for post-graduation. His hard work in the classroom paid off as he graduated Valedictorian of his Spring 2005 class. Also, the time and energy Chris devoted to his internship earned him a full time position with Lockheed Martin.

When Chris is not busy with work and meeting deadlines, he gives back as much as possible to his Alma Mater. Chris attends Advisory Boards for The Interactive Media Design Program to discuss curriculum requirements and industry needs and trends to ensure the students are getting a continued top-notch education at the college. Additionally, Chris serves as a judge for the IMD Project Management course to offer useful, constructive feedback on student projects. Each quarter, Chris is happy to come back as an Alumni Expert Speaker to talk with freshman classes about his experiences at The Art Institute and with his career. He enjoys providing "real life" advice to students on how to get the most out of school and their professional development. The advice Chris gives focuses on the importance of students learning from their classmates, getting involved with extra projects and freelance jobs while at school, and reminding them that the learning process continues long after graduation.
