Dominic Antonini

Dominic Antonini graduated from The Art Institute of Philadelphia in the summer of 1999 from the Multimedia program. Dominic says he always had a strong inclination toward programming and computer science. When he enrolled in The Art Institute of Philadelphia, the school became the catalyst for his appreciation in the analytical processes of the computer industry. At same time, it enhanced his sensibility to the creative world of multimedia.

Dominic stresses that his ambition, along with his education at The Art Institute of Philadelphia helped to “jump start” him in wanting to learn any and everything about computers. Dominic became involved with many interesting projects. He was asked to assist with publishing a book about Authorware. He produced a CD-ROM for The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts while interning there as part of his Art Institute program. He also consulted regularly with faculty for curriculum feedback and improvements to a fairly new program and industry.

After gradating from The Art Institute of Philadelphia, Dominic worked as East Coast Manager of Website Production for Homebuilder.com. As many internet companies experienced, a merger occurred and the company relocated and downsized. Thankfully, Dominic had been doing freelance work while at Homebuilder.com and these opportunities laid the foundation for him to eventually start his own company.

Dominic excelled in small consulting jobs, such as buying computers for companies, setting up their networks and tutoring in software concepts. In addition, he also developed, built and managed websites for those businesses. He was working hard for customers, sustaining income and was quite successful. His clients saw him as the “computer handyman” to call. Dominic was always eager to assist and his skills helped him get the job done quickly and successfully. These events also served as a positive learning experience for Dominic.

Dominic decided to open a service and retail computer store and called it, “The Computer Handyman, Inc.”, located in South Jersey. With this new endeavor, Dominic continues to evolve and is open for new opportunities. He has been very fortunate that his hard work and dedication have made his business so successful.

Dominic is very active in his community. He provides assistance and education to residential and commercial users of the PC, as being a reliable and friendly PC technician. In addition to The Computer Handyman’s services, Dominic also sponsors a softball team and is involved in charitable events and has been a member of national networking group and local business partner’s organization.

Dominic is very proud of his achievements and is extremely appreciative to the faculty and staff for their on-going encouragement. Helping people is what Dominic enjoys most and he never looses sight of the importance of giving back whenever possible. Dominic is active with future graduates of The Art Institute of Philadelphia through portfolio reviews. He feels these are ways to share his experiences and offer encouragement for students to stay motivated and be confident. This is a strong and valuable lesson he has learned and wants to continue to pass on to others.
