Internships
The Academic Affairs Department, in conjunction with the Career Services Center, runs an active internship program in which qualified students near the end of their programs may participate. The Art Institute of Philadelphia has cultivated on-going relationships with industry professionals and has standing arrangements with participating internship sponsors.
The Internship Program is designed to augment classroom training by exposing students to practical work situations while maintaining an educational focus. Through an intense curriculum that combines classroom instruction with hands-on experience, our students learn both technical and business aspects of their program of study.
Internships are scheduled according to the academic calendar and are 10 weeks in duration. Internships are substituted for selected classes and at least nine hours of work are required for each class substituted. Internships may be paid or unpaid work experiences which reflect and enhance The Art Institute of Philadelphia curriculum.
"An internship can be the make it or break it point of a young person's career. It is their one chance at a foot in the door, and what they choose to do with it is their decision. For most people, it's where their career starts"
