The Art Institute of Philadelphia Announces New Bachelor of Science Degree in Audio Production

To meet the growing need for audio professionals, The Art Institute of Philadelphia is offering a new Bachelor of Science degree program in Audio Production beginning in August 2009.

With accomplished leadership and comprehensive training in technology, theory, industry trends and business practices, students enrolled in the inaugural program will have the opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills to launch promising careers in the field of audio engineering and post-production for the telecommunications industries, television, radio, interactive media, film, game development and music.

"Audio is moving in multiple directions at once and is always in a constant state of growth and change. This program is a mixture of audio engineering, sound design, and music creation where students will be challenged to push the limits of sound," says Jim Gallagher, Academic Director of the Audio Production program.

"We will teach the fundamental principles of recording and editing so they can adapt to and influence the audio industry and produce audio for TV and radio, the web, interactive devices, live sound, games, and music."

The guidance of an advisory committee comprised of expert audio professionals combined with a technology-focused curriculum will prepare graduates for entry level positions in contemporary marketplace. The curriculum builds a strong foundation in the basic physics of sound and acoustics, enabling students to stay abreast of industry tools that constantly evolve.
