The Art Institute of Philadelphia offers a wide variety of clubs both academic in nature and those that are geared towards social interests. All clubs are available for any student to join, but some may be intended for a specific major and require dues.
Academic Clubs
Most Academic Clubs are geared towards specific majors.
2D Animation Club -- For students interested in the advancement of and current techniques related to 2D Animation.
AIGA Student Chapter -- To serve as a communicative and informative base for the graphic design community at The Art Institute of Philadelphia as well as provide Graphic Design students with networking opportunities through field trips, competitions, etc.
Function -- To provide students interested in Web Design and Interactive Media with an orga-nized environment where they can learn more advanced skills in these fields and to provide networking opportunities.
Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) Student Chapter -- To bring Industrial Design Technology students together to share ideas, and network with people relevant to the field.
Interior Design Club -- Has national affiliations with the National Kitchen & Bath Association, American Society of Interior Design and the International Interior Design Association. The club plans visits to buildings to explore design, host guest speakers and do volunteer work as well as provide networking opportunities.
MIND - Future Leaders in Fashion -- A club for Fashion majors that puts on fashion shows, helps students network and advance their careers in fashion.
Video Production Club -- Help students to enhance their video production skills while providing opportunities to socialize and network with other Digital Film and Video Production students.
Visual Effects Club (VFX) -- To provide a positive outlet for creativity and knowledge on the subject of Visual Effects outside of the classroom.
Governing Bodies
These clubs help students govern certain aspects of student life at The Art Institute of Philadelphia.
Student Government Association (SGA) -- The Student Government Association (SGA) is the organization that governs the student body. The senate is comprised of a representative from each major, four at-large positions and a four-person elected executive cabinet. The senate meets weekly to vote on club/organization issues and discuss student concerns.
Interest-Based Clubs
All students are welcome to join these interest-based social clubs.
Ai Independent Artists -- Provides a platform for students interested in pursuing careers in the music business to share, promote and record music. For artists and Audio Production majors.
Anime Club -- To watch and critique new anime as well as study Japanese culture.
Black Student Union -- Helps to enhance, educate and motivate students' minds, spirits and academics while attending The Art Institute of Philadelphia. The club seeks to bind black culture together, but is open to students of all races and ethnicities.
Comic Book Club -- To inform students on the comic book business, how to make your own comic and help develop comic design skills.
First Strike -- This club is for those interested in Kenpo Self-Defense and other types of karate.
IMPROV -- A comedy troupe designed to act "off the top of your head." This club is open to all majors and abilities.
Latin Quarterz -- To embrace and learn about Latin culture as well as celebrate The Art Institute of Philadelphia's diverse community.
Origin 3D -- For students to learn and share information related to 3D Animation.
Stop Motion -- To create Stop Motion animations, educate people on the creation of Stop Motion animations and help interested students network.
Redeemed (Student Christian Club) -- Helps to support students seeking Christ-centered guidance for their lives.
Warhammer Gaming -- To network with other people interested in playing Warhammer.
Publications
Submissions are always welcome from all students for these student-run publications.
LorumIpsum -- Publishes a magazine of poems and stories from different literary genres, using submissions from The Art Institute of Philadelphia community. All of those interested in creative writing are encouraged to join and submit their work.
PIQUE (Photojournal) -- A Photography Magazine that showcases student photographic works in a professionally laid-out journal that is published once a quarter. There is a section for non-photography majors to be able to submit their work as well.
