Computer Animation

Andrew Sinur
Graduating with an associate's degree in Computer Animation, Andrew is working with Rainbow Studios in Phoenix. As a member of the Facial Team, Andrew animates the expressions of characters developed by another team. He is also on the motion capture team using Filmbox software.
Andrew started as an intern at Rainbow in April of 1999. He believes that his education at The Art Institute helped him learn to focus his talents to specific employers and animation standards and trends. Hoping to stay with Rainbow, Andrew would like to become an effects supervisor or animation supervisor. 

Darren Gorthey
After graduating in Winter 1998, Darren worked for Fox Animation and now, Darren is employed by Neoplanet, an Internet Browser Company. As Graphic Designer for the firm, Darren prepares splash pages, animated banners and buttons, custom browsers for third party clients, and FLASH animations.

David Lyon
Graduating in Fall 2000, David had the opportunity to intern at Club Disney prior to graduating. Now, Ikon Office Studio employs David as a retail coordinator responsible as a digital liaison who helps design copies for clients. David hopes to continue on to a masters degree in marketing. 

Dean Sylvia
“I want to build my own animation studio in Arizona and then go nationwide!” Dean has actively pursued many avenues that have allowed him to showcase his talents in the areas of cartooning and animation. Illustrating children’s books for “Freeman Enterprises,” while in school, Dean continued to develop the skill that he had marketed for the past ten years.
Currently, Dean works for “Scottsdale Porsche” as the firm’s cartoonist. He develops scripts and creates artwork for the company with the goal of seeing the comic strip carried in the Arizona Republic newspapers.
Dean states that his education, “helped me learn how to work with other people and gave me an idea of what industry standards demand.”

Derek Mann
As News Graphic Artist for the Evening News on KSAZ FOX-10 news, Derek is using his animation skills. His long-term goals include directing a feature length animation film.

J.C. Amberlyn
Landing a job at Cinematix as a 3-D Artist gave J.C. the opportunity to animate the in-game actions of one of the main characters in a video game being produced by the company and to be involved with some character design. Known most recently for the video game, “Revenant” Cinematix is a video game production company that has been in business for 5 years. They have approximately 20 people on staff.
Graduating in Fall 2000, J.C. hopes to once day create a movie, cartoon, comic, or a game that people will enjoy and remember for a long time. “When my characters become a household name, then I’ll know that I’ve achieved my dreams!”

Jamie Huffman
Working as a concept artist for “Ferris Productions,” Jamie develops concept drawings for creative ideas for theme parks. “Ferris Productions” is a creative company that develops games, arcades, and virtual reality programs.
During school, Jamie credits her education with, “opening my eyes toward all the possibilities in animation and preparing me to be more of a professional. Jamie hopes to continue to grow in her experience and move into ever more meaningful and rewarding employment in concept development. She wants to continue to build her skills in storyboarding, traditional animation, and illustration.

Jeff Davis
Working as an Animator for Moody/Nolan Ltd., Jeff is excited to be able to do what he loves! Moody/Nolan Ltd. is a very large and highly respected architectural firm in Central Ohio. Jeff works in a new division called Dynamic Media. Jeff proudly shares that he won the position over 40 other candidates for the job!

Jim Panzer
“Ferris Productions” is the home of Jim Panzer, Animation Developer, who is working on visualizations, textures, and graphics for games the company produces. Enjoying a sense of diversity, Jim learned about digitizing videos and loading them onto the Internet while an intern during his program.
Jim is interested in learning more about special effects for film projects in the future. He would like to put his creativity to work not only in the field of animation, but in such a way that he can incorporate all that he has learned while a student at The Art Institute of Phoenix.

John Longenbaugh
After an internship at Rainbow Studios while in school, John set his eyes on learning how to be a game concept artist and a 3D modeler. Today, employed by Acclaim Entertainment in Salt Lake City, Utah, John is creating textures for in-game characters and mapping them on complicated models. He is also doing character modeling and creating concept art for games.
Acclaim Entertainment is a leading worldwide developer and publisher of software for Nintendo, Sony Computer Entertainment, Sega, and personal computer hardware systems. "Acclaim Entertainment is committed to developing high-quality products on current and next-generation gaming platforms including Playstation2 computer entertainment system, Nintendo Gamecube, and Microsoft's X-Box," states John.
As a 2D/3D Artist, John feels as if he has already accomplished his career goals but, "I hope to continue developing my 2D and 3D skills and contributing to making great games! I am extremely happy doing what I do!"

Josh Locatis
Josh graduated from AiPX in Summer 2000. Employed as a Graphic Designer by ADS Technologies, he designs company literature, logos, and collateral materials. He is frequently given jobs that require a rapid turnaround.
ADS Technologies purchased Precision Power in 1999. Precision Power had been in business 15 years prior to the acquisition. ADS Technologies is comprised of Orion, Precision Power, and ADS.

Josh Spradling
Rainbow Studios is the career home of Josh Spradling, who spends his time creating models, animating characters, and lighting during a day's work. (Rainbow Studios is a game art and animation studio in Phoenix.) Graduating with his associate's degree in Computer Animation, Josh landed his job as animator shortly after graduation.
"My interaction with students helped me to learn the ins and outs of the software. The instructors always challenged me and helped me to improve my skills." Josh hopes to move into a position where he can eventually get credit on a major animation film.

Justin Lloyd
Square Peg Productions is home to Justin Lloyd who graduated in Winter 2000. As Art Director and Animator, Justin works on 3D modeling, animations, video editing, logo animations, and sound effects/ music.
Justin’s career goals include the improvement of his modeling and character design and to eventually design and direct his own video game.

Kelly Bedson
An animation graduate in Summer 2000, Kelly is employed by TraCorp as an Assistant Producer. TraCorp develops multimedia and computer-based training programs. In her job, Kelly utilizes FLASH and 3D ANIMATOR and is a concept developer utilizing her illustration skills.
Eventually, Kelly hopes to work on animation for television or a feature length film.

Mohanned Khamra
Mohanned landed a job with Digital Domain months after graduation. One of Mohanned's projects was the recent Auto Trader commercial shown during the Super Bowl this year. He graduated with his associate's degree in Computer Animation.
When asked what he gleaned from his education at AI Phoenix, Mohanned answered, "The school helped me to strive for excellence. I learned to understand industry demands and developed the tools to succeed."
Mohanned's recipe for success? "A combination of personal ambition, excellent instruction, and highly developed skills."

Naomi Budai
Naomi is employed by Paradigm Design Group working as a modeler on 3D Virtual Reality Modeler to create 3D models of buildings and houses for virtual walkthroughs, photo realistic imaging, and texture mapping. After graduating in Fall 2000 she moved into the employment market with confidence and determination to get into the job field and succeed.
Paradigm Design Group is an architectural design studio comprised of architects and computer graphic artists who specialize in custom and speculative design. The company has been in Phoenix about three years and recently expanded to Irvine, California.

Nic Boudreau
Working for “Stormfront Studios” a game company in California, Nic is enjoying life as a 2D Animator who is creating models and working on texture maps. Not wanting to sit on his laurels, Nic eventually wants to utilize his 3D animation skills in an entertainment environment.
Nic believes that The Art Institute of Phoenix helped, “explain what the industry is like, helped me prepare for my current job and to develop a network for professional connections. I found that all of my instructors helped me to improve my work.”

Randy Cochran
An internship with NeoPlanet developed into a full-time position upon graduation for Randy Cochran. "My education at The Art Institute helped me develop contacts in the professional field and helped me land my perfect job."
Working as a Web Developer and Graphic Designer for the company, Randy's duties include Web design and production, and production for animation and video. NeoPlanet is the third most popular Web browser among free products offered in the marketplace. The company offers customized versions for third-party vendors.

Stefanie Neuburger
Resolutions Multimedia Group Inc. has hired Stefanie as a 3D Animator. She works on 3D animation in 3D Studio Max and on 2D visual effects in Combustion and Flash. Resolutions Multimedia Group Inc. has been in business for 5 years and has numerous corporate clients such as America West, Bashas, Tosco (Circle K, Exxon), and Phelps Dodge.
Graduating in Summer 2000, Stefanie hopes to own and direct own animation house.

Stephanie Cushing
"I would eventually like to become a lighting and special effects director" Stephanie Cushing graduated with her associate's degree in Computer Animation and began working for Rainbow Studios in Phoenix. As an animator for the company, she is involved with character animation, creating scene layouts, and performing lighting and prop animation.
Before graduating from The Art Institute of Phoenix, Stephanie worked for The Arizona Republic newspapers as a graphic designer. She was delighted to land the position with Rainbow Studios, a game and animation studio. The Art Institute of Phoenix helped Stephanie learn the basics of lighting and textures. This has helped me develop an eye for quality and detail needed to be successful in this field.

Steve Derrick
Graduating with his associate's degree in Computer Animation, Steve went to work in the field of game development. Working as a game artist for Vicarious Visions located in Troy, New York, Steve has his eyes on a position as lead artist or art director for the company in the next few years.
Working on Nintendo Gameboy games, Zebco Fisherman and Terminus, Steve is responsible for creating concept drawings, tracking designs, and applying textures over 3-D models. "AIPX helped me become more knowledgeable about the gaming industry and industry standards. The school also gave me insight into the process of taking concepts and turning them into projects".
