The Cathrin Yoder Animation Scholarship is offered by The Art Institute of Phoenix to honor the contributions made by Cathrin who developed and implemented the Computer Animation program throughout The Art Institutes system.

The Cathrin Yoder Animation Scholarship is designed to support a deserving female student who needs help to attain her dreams. The Art Institute of Phoenix is offering a full-tuition scholarship for the Bachelor’s degree program in animation. The scholarship is intended to encourage females to enter the animation industry.

ELIGIBILITY:

You must be a high school or college graduate with at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA.

DEADLINES:

All entries must be postmarked by June 1, 2008. Winners will be notified by June 30, 2008.

ENTRY PREPARATION:

• Proof of graduation from high school


• 3.0 grade point average from the last school attended


• Please complete (word processed or typed) the following essay in 200 words or more: Upon graduation from The Art Institute of Phoenix, how would you plan to use the skills and knowledge gained from your program for the betterment of yourself and the animation community?


• Portfolio Submission including and up to:
o 10 life drawings
o 5 illustrations
o 5 examples of area of interest, i.e., characters, textures, backgrounds
o Résumé stating your educational background, extra-curricular activities, hobbies, work experience, community involvement, artistic accomplishments, and/or related awards

o Optional: 1 VHS or CD example of animated material produced using traditional or digital techniques (minimal time 10 seconds—maximum 1 minute).

NOTE: If the scholarship is awarded to a student who is already enrolled in The Art Institute of Phoenix, the amount awarded will be equivalent to the tuition payable for the quarters remaining in the program (not including the quarter for which the student is currently enrolled at the time of award). No refund will be made for tuition already paid if the scholarship is awarded to a student already enrolled.

• Submit two letters of recommendation from teachers or employers.


• Entries must be complete in one package and mailed by June 1, 2008 to:
