Art Institute of Phoenix Student Wins Job

Back

Ashley Scott, a Graphic Design student at The Art Institute of Phoenix has been selected as the winner in “The Best Job in AZ” web design contest, presented by SpinSix Strategic Marketing Design. As winner of the contest, Scott receives a full-time position and a $50,000 a year salary with the rapidly growing firm. SpinSix created the competition to find the best and brightest professionals to join their team, based in Scottsdale. Contest entrants were asked to design a website for a fictional company using a design platform provided by SpinSix.  Scott’s design was chosen from dozens of website designs, created by entry-level and experienced designers, competing for the coveted position with the award-winning firm. The judging panel included some of Arizona’s top web designers and online marketing gurus.

SpinSix partner Anthony Helmstetter stated, “What’s unique about seeking employees through a contest like this is the guarantee that only the most ambitious self-starters will prevail.” Scott is in her final quarter in the Graphic Design Bachelor of Arts degree program at The Art Institute of Phoenix. Upon graduation in January 2010, she will start her new job as Graphic Designer with SpinSix and will spearhead major web design projects for clients such as CVS|Caremark, Safeguard Security and Drive Time.

This is not the first time Scott’s talent has been recognized. As a high school senior at Mountain Ridge
High School in 2007, she entered The Art Institutes Scholarship Competition and earned a $30,000 scholarship to study Graphic Design at The Art Institute of Phoenix. That same year she also entered The Art Institutes and Americans for the Arts Poster Design Competition, http://www.artinstitutes.edu/competitions/poster-design-competition.aspx, and earned an additional $3,000 scholarship to The Art Institute of Phoenix. Scott has some advice for others looking to turn their creative talents into a career, “The opportunities are out there, you just have to look in the right places and education is key, The Art Institute of Phoenix has helped me grow as graphic designer and become a professional!”
