Facilities and Resources
Located in a four-story building in the northwest section of Phoenix, The Art
Institute of Phoenix enjoys scenic mountain views from many
of its large picture windows.
Classroom and computer laboratory facilities are clean
and well-maintained and overseen by a full-time technology
manager. The Culinary Arts kitchens are spacious and filled
with commercial equipment typically found in a production
environment.
In addition to general-purpose classrooms, The Art Institute
of Phoenix also provides many specialized resources to help
enrich our educational experience:
Labs & Special-Use Facilities
Students sharpen their computer skills in one of the many
computer labs at the school. Thanks to the small student
to teacher ratio at the Institute, instructors work closely
to monitor the progress of each student.
Life drawing labs offer students the opportunity to sketch
from live models. Students learn how to transfer knowledge
of live models to their animated counterparts.
The Video Production studio & control room give real-life
opportunities for students to create and produce short video
elements for use in broadcast, public service, and other
digital media. Video shot in the studio and outside the
school can be incorporated into other presentations such
as game designs or animations.
The Audio Production studio enables students to create
and record their own sound effects for use in their various
class productions.
Baking & Pastry, Production, and A la Carte kitchens
are run by chef instructors and students who produce mouth-watering
foodstuffs on a daily basis. The A La Carte kitchen also
serves The Gallery Café, the students’ dining
lab. The Café is open to the public for lunch on
Wednesdays through Fridays and for dinner on Thursdays and
Fridays during the fall and winter terms.
Supply Store
The Supply Store sells books and art supplies necessary
for the successful student. Clothing, hobby items, and food
are also available.
The Learning Resource Center
Filled with books, periodicals, CD-ROMs, videos, DVDs, and
on-line resources, the Learning Resource Center is open
to students Monday through Saturday.
The Gallery
National and local exhibits, changed monthly, are on display.
Student and faculty art is also scheduled during the year.
Receptions are held frequently allowing the students to
meet with visiting artists.
The Gallery Café
The Gallery Café provides an inviting atmosphere
for students, staff, and visitors. Surrounded by Gallery
exhibits, soft lights, and soothing music, the Café
offers diners enjoyment of a terrific meal at a reasonable
price while culinary arts students showcase their work.
