Student Counseling
Services
for Students with Disabilities
The Art Institute of Phoenix is committed:
- to providing
accessible programs and academic support to students with
disabilities, and
- give every student
the same opportunity for success.

If a student has a
documented disability and needs assistance with classes, the
special needs coordinator works with him/her to facilitate the
accommodations needed. Self-advocacy and independence are encouraged
through student knowledge and use of these accommodations.
Counseling
The college provides confidential short-term counseling and
crisis intervention for students. Assistance is available
for a wide range of concerns, such as relationship issues,
family problems, loneliness, depression, and alcohol or drug
abuse. The college also sponsors school-wide programs on mental
health-related topics and provides referrals to community
resources. Academic counseling is arranged through the education
department.
Medical/Dental Insurance and Referrals
Many students qualify for student medical insurance. Specific
information and applications are available from student services.
Emergency medical assistance will be requested for any person
who requests or demonstrates a need for medical attention.
Students are, however, responsible for any resulting expenses.
Students should review their personal and family insurance
policies to determine whether adequate coverage exists.
