The Art Institutes Awards, Grants, and Scholarships
Each of The Art Institutes schools may offer various scholarships, awards and grants every year to new and continuing students. Offers may be based on program of study, attendance, financial need, academic achievement and community service credentials. Art+Smart Scholarship Competition: High school juniors and seniors with a minimum GPA of 2.0 are eligible to compete for first, second and third-place tuition scholarships totaling $30,000. High school freshmen and sophomores will also compete for complimentary tuition for the annual Summer Studio Workshop Program at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh, as well as gift certificates for The Art Institute of Pittsburgh Supply Store in the amounts of $100, $75 and $50. All grades are eligible for a People’s Choice Award, a $50 gift card to The Mall at Robinson. A production of Gallery on the Mall, the Art+Smart competition calls for works of all medium, which will be judged by a panel of creative professionals. Entries are evaluated based on concept, idea generation, originality, technical proficiency and the judges’ perception of the entrant’s demonstrated potential as a commercial artist/designer. John T. Barclay Memorial Scholarship: The Art Institute of Pittsburgh will award a scholarship in memory of our late President, John T. Barclay. Mr. Barclay was an industrious and committed individual. He never missed a day of work until three months before his death. He saw each project to successful completion and believed strongly in the importance of citizenship and community involvement.. Learn more
Fashion Your Future Scholarship Competition: High school sophomores, juniors and seniors who have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 are eligible to complete for tuition scholarships at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh by creating a full-scale prom dress visual merchandising display. Learn more
Mask Makers Scholarship Competition: High school juniors and seniors are eligible to compete for first, second and third-place tuition scholarships. A production of Gallery on the Mall, a unique award-winning collaboration between The Art Institute of Pittsburgh and The Mall at Robinson, this competition supports and recgonizes the work of local artists and raises awareness about creative career opportunities available for high school students in the Pittsburgh, PA region. The Art Institutes Scholarship Competition: Each school may award a various number of The Art Institutes Scholarship Competition scholarships at various amounts to high school seniors and international students. Scholarship awards are based on the quality of projects submitted by students. Learn more
The Art Institutes Merit Awards: New and continuing students are eligible to compete for The Art Institutes Merit Awards. These awards are intended specifically for students who exhibit evidence of merit and motivation but who cannot enter classes or continue their program without additional financial assistance. The Art Institutes Merit Awards vary by school location and are subject to change. Merit Awards do not need to be repaid.
The Art Institutes National Scholarships
Each year, The Art Institutes schools offer national scholarships to high school seniors who demonstrate a commitment to education and outstanding capabilities in their chosen area of study. The Art Institutes Storytellers Photography Competition: To enter the photography competition, prospective students can submit eight photos that tell a story, a 1,000 word artist’s statement and a high school transcript or proof of high school graduation. The photography competition is open to high school seniors and graduates interested in The Art Institutes Photography programs. Entries will be judged at the local level and all local winners will progress national competition to compete for up to a $40,000 photography scholarship. [learn more]
The Art Institutes Best Teen Chef Competition: High school seniors who want to pursue a culinary education at The Art Institutes location of their choice are eligible to participate in this two-part competition. The Art Institutes and Americans for the Arts Poster Design Competition: This two-part competition is open to high school seniors. Tuition scholarships for local and national winners are awarded in varying amounts.
The Art Institutes Passion for Fashion Scholarship Competition: High school seniors interested in pursuing an education in Fashion Design or Fashion Marketing & Merchandising at The Art Institutes location of their choice are eligible to participate in this competition. Evelyn Keedy Memorial Scholarship: High school seniors who show dedication to their education and a desire for a creative career may apply for the Evelyn Keedy Memorial Scholarship through The Art Institutes. Learn more.
National Organization Scholarships for Art Institutes Students
Students of The Art Institutes are eligible for scholarships awarded by several national scholastic and professional organizations. Winners are selected by committees of working professionals independent of The Art Institutes. Contact the Admissions Department at The Art Institutes location of your choice for details about the following scholarships. Amounts vary. Scholarships do not have to be repaid.
National Art Honor Society: High school seniors who belong to the National Art Honor Society (NAHS) may apply for an Art Institutes National Art Honor Society Scholarship. Tuition scholarships for first- through third-place winners are awarded in varying amounts. Learn more.
SkillsUSA: Students who are members of SkillsUSA may compete in local, state and national championships. Winners are awarded a variety of tuition scholarships in the advertising design, culinary, photography, 3-D visualization and animation, Web design, and television production fields. Scholastic Art and Writing Competition: Four $10,000 scholarships will be awarded by The Art Institutes for selected winners of the Scholastic Art and Writing Competition. These awards are given on a first-come, first-serve basis to Scholastic winners. Learn more.
FCCLA: High school seniors who are first-, second-, and third-place winners of the National FCCLA Culinary, Fashion Design, Fashion Construction, and Interior Design competitions will be awarded tuition scholarships of varying amounts to any one of The Art Institutes offering a culinary, fashion, or interior design program. C-CAP: Students enrolled in a C-CAP program may compete for one full-tuition scholarship to be used for either a two- or four-year degree at any one of more than 30 U.S. schools comprising the International Culinary Schools at The Art Institutes. Visit www.ccapinc.org to learn more.
