(PITTSBURGH, PA.,  June 7, 2012) - Habitat for Humanity of Greater Pittsburgh and The Art Institute of Pittsburgh will be hosting a recycled material fashion show entitled Hard Hats and High Heels. The Macy’s sponsored show will be held at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on Thursday, June 7th starting at 7:30 PM with a VIP Cocktail Hour* at 6:30 PM. All proceeds from the show will be donated to Habitat’s Veterans Housing Initiative program to help local veterans with housing repairs, accessibility modifications, and energy-saving weatherization. Tickets are now on sale to the public at www.PittsburghHabitat.Eventbrite.com.

The show will feature fashion design students from The Art Institute of Pittsburgh who have created a small collection of clothing using materials from the Habitat for Humanity ReStore retail outlet, located in Edgewood Towne Centre. Habitat’s Community Outreach Coordinator Jeremy Martin said, “This is the perfect opportunity to see the reuse possibilities of our ReStore retail outlet and to support our new Veteran program to serve those who served our country for us.” Habitat for Humanity partner family homeowners and volunteers will be featured in the show wearing clothes donated by local retailers. The designers will be judged by members of the local fashion community. Featured special guests include WTAE’s Wendy Bell and 96.1 Kiss FM’s Tall Cathy. Over 350 attendees are expected to enjoy this experience.
