Faculty, Graduates and Staff from The Art Institute of Portland are among the founding members for the new Portland Chapter of Women in Animation.
Laurie Torelli, Assistant Department Director, Game Art & Design, Visual & Game Programming; Erika Hoffmeister, Game Art & Design Graduate; Nikki Ferchland, Media Arts & Animation Graduate and Julie Williamson, Director of Career Services, from the Art Institute of Portland, are collaborating with Kate Ertmann, President and Executive Producer at ADi, to start the Portland Chapter of WIA and promote women's roles in animation.
Women In Animation is a professional, non-profit organization established in 1994 in the United States to foster the dignity, concerns and advancement of women who are involved in any and all aspects of the art and industry of animation. WIA is also an educational organization. Through workshops, meetings and panels WIA helps members gain valuable insight into the industry.
