ADMISSIONS: ADMISSIONS EVENTS

Throughout the year, the Admissions department invites prospective students and their friends and family to various events. At most of these events, you’ll get the chance to meet our staff, faculty and students, view student work and learn more about who we are. We hold most events on weekday evenings and weekends, so you can have options and find the event that best suits your schedule. To find out the latest schedule of events, please visit our Events calendar on the web.

Open House
Held at least once per quarter, Open House events are a great way to learn more about The Art Institute of Portland. Visit our school, talk with faculty and students, learn about financial aid options and view student and graduate work.

Application Night
Students who have already interviewed with an Assistant Director of Admissions are invited to attend Application Night to finalize their application and enrollment. This is also a great time to bring forward any other questions you may have as you step closer to enrollment.

Summer Teen Workshop
Have fun. Be challenged. Explore your creativity.
That's the thinking behind the summer workshops at The Art Institute of Portland. In five days, you'll discover ways to use design solutions to attract attention, inform, and educate. You'll get a sense of how to apply a variety of technologies to make it all happen, with faculty who can help you see the big picture. Plus, you'll meet new friends and get your hands on some pretty cool projects. Remember, this is also a great opportunity to see what's possible and how it feels to be working in the creative and applied arts.

Senior Information Night
For those with hectic schedules during the day, Senior Information Night is an opportunity for you to get an introduction to what The Art Institute of Portland has to offer. Students and family members can take a tour of the school and learn more about The Art Institute of Portland's unique application and enrollment procedures.

College Preview
Because it isn't always possible or convenient for students and their families to come to an Open House or make an in-person visit, The Art Institute of Portland takes to the road with a series of College Previews. These events are much like an Open House in that prospective students can meet Art Institute staff, get information about our programs and services, and view portfolio work. College Previews are a great way to meet face-to-face with The Art Institute without traveling to Portland.

High School Presentation
Our High School Representatives travel to high school classrooms and counseling centers, as well as community colleges, giving presentations about the educational programs and entry-level career opportunities for which graduates prepare for at The Art Institute of Portland. The presentations last about an hour and give students a chance to see Art Institute student portfolio work and informational videos. If you would like to schedule a presentation, please call The Art Institute of Portland and ask for the High School Representatives Office, or email the Associate Director for High School Programs.

Tours of The Art Institute
Group tours of The Art Institute are available for high school juniors and seniors between October and May. In addition to a tour of our facilities, your group will also receive information about our programs, student housing, and other services. To schedule a group tour, please email aipdadm@aii.edu, or call 503-228-6528 or 1-888-228-6528 with the following items:

  • Your name, school, and job title
  • Phone number
  • Size of your group (we can accommodate no more than 30-40)
  • Range of interests (e.g. graphic design, apparel, etc.)
  • Age range of your students
  • Dates and times you wish to visit
This is an informational tour to help juniors and seniors interested in a creative field with their college plans. Please give at least two weeks advance notice.
