My concept for the poster reflects the theme "life is better with art in it." My interpretation of life is something that experiences growth and age. The symbol I chose for life then resulted in a flower. It's structure and color in itself is artistic. To emphasize the art of a flower I incorporated artist tools into the actual structure of the flower.

The graphic design field is important to me and something I feel I should be part of. It is noticeable when a person is passionate about a particular area of study. After some time they are known for what they love to do. A person who is truly passionate about what he or she does spends a lot of their time and energy to improve their knowledge and skills, they may have a role model who has similar interests or maybe they are always searching for sources of inspiration. Most of all they concentrate on having their passion become part of their future. Knowing this, I am convinced that graphic design is my passion.

When I was thirteen our household got our first computer. I spent a lot of time "surfing" the net and looking at websites that were created by a diverse selection of people. I was fascinated by layout designs that people had thought of. I started making websites soon after that and gradually improved. I learned more about how a design should fit together as I continued. I used Adobe Photodeluxe at first learning the tools and tricks on my own. I knew almost immediately that this was something I could do for the rest of my life.

Currently, in my senior year of high school, I am taking a Graphic and Visual Communications vocational class at the Southern Adirondack Education Center. I am taking this course to gain more knowledge in this field and to have more work for my portfolio. This year I focused the most on graphic design than before and it makes me happy to do something all day that I love.

I have stumbled upon people who have done incredible work. These are the people who have helped strive to improve my own personal skills. There are hundreds of websites that I revisit just to see what outstanding layouts that have made. Without stumbling upon these inspirations I would not have the ambition I have today.

Now that I know that I want graphic design to be part of my life I have made some long-term goals for my future. After graduating from high school my focus is to work to get into a college where I can receive my bachelor's degree in either graphic design itself or in visual communications. I wanted to focus on a more urbanized location for my college choice because I love being around people and career opportunities. Also, cities I feel are artistic in themselves.

After college I want to get a career either in website design, advertising, or graphic design. Any one of these areas would be a satisfying choice. The only need that has to be met in my career is the freedom to express myself through my work.

When it all comes down to it I can proudly say that I have the symptoms of a passionate and aspiring graphic designer.
