I have three focal points in my poster: the body, the mind, and the world. The body was drawn from a posed figure of one of my classmates. It encompasses many significant aspects of the poster. The hand that has flames on it represents the passion of art. The brain is a reproduction of "The Ancient of Days," which is a painting by William Blake. The painting is symbolic of the "Medieval representation of the Lord as Architect of the University" (Janson, History of Art, Abrams, 1991). The figure of the man is sitted into a "Circle of light," representing knowledge and purity. In this painting, "Blake felt no need to observe the visible world around him," which is why my reproduction is disconnected but still symbolic to the world. This represents the person thinking and seeing the world through art in which shapes the universe. The Art Institute logo appears underneath the painting representing how The Art Institute embrace art and provide the person with knowledge of art which can be used to see the world from a different perspective.

The world is painted as a flower or a bud of a flower that is planted in the water and has started to bloom. This focuses on the world as a beautiful place through the eyes of an artist, which means that "Life" would be "Better with Art In It."

In the background the Americans for the Arts logo symbolizes a good aspect of life, which is art, in a dark place.

The three focal points are all connected by art, passion, and life. The hand represents the passion that feeds the brain, which is the reproduction of the painting by William Blake's "Architect of the Universe," which shapes and molds the world in which the person sees through art.

I have been interested in the interior design field for about four years now and I have found through many home projects that it is what I love to do and what I call my passion. I love to create and decorate spaces and find new ways to make an area better and functional. My goal is to receive my bachelor's degree for interior design and enter the field, so that one day I can establish my own business in residential design. I want to enter this field so that I can apply my creativity the best way I know how, and use my passion and the skills I will obtain from the Art Institute of Philadelphia to reach my career goals.
