This idea actually was inspired by a tattoo of a co-worker of mine. It’s of a rib cage and when I thought of the phrase "Life is Better with Art in it," I au-tomatically thought of how the rib cage is a very symbolic figure of life. Through many creative trial and errors, I decided that paint dripping from the ribs would really ex-press what I was aiming for. I wanted the drips of paint to be from the painting Starry Night by Van Gogh, but since it needed to be original, I replicated my own copy of it with pastels on a piece of black stock paper and scanned it in. I also used the text to symbolize the theme. The words "Life" and "Better" are empty while "Art" is filled with color, symbolizing the emptiness of life without art in it.

I love art, computers, and marketing and have skills in all three areas so when I understood what graphic design was, it was the obvious choice for me. Through my senior year, I have been enrolled in an off-campus graphic design course and have found this field is definitely for me because it combines my passions into one promising career.
