Art emcompasses just about everything that makes something eyecatching, interesting, new, beautiful, emotional, fashionable and fun. People see art everywhere, from the chair they sit in, to the movies they watch and the comics they read. Someone had to design all of this.

It occured to me that without art there would be nothing. Not only would mankind be deprived of paintings, drawings, sculptures; what is usually thought of when the subject of art arises; but buildings, furniture, appliances, soda cans, fashion and clothes. These things cannot exist without art. Then there is natural art such as: sunsets, flowers, trees, the human body and other lifeforms. None of these things could exist.

I took this idea and played with it. Without art in life there could only be one way to see everything. Everyone and everything would look the same. There could be nothing unusual, unique or inspiring. It would be very boring.

My poster design has two groups of people. One group in the background is bored and sad. They are all dressed in gray. The happy group of people have Art with them. They are happy and have bits of color on them because bits of art have rubbed off onto them. Art is colorful, interesting, stands out, and looks fun. He is an individual, the embodiment of what art is for humanity.

I gave Art a name tag so that it was obvious that art is actually who he is. Name tags usually imply a sense that someone is inclined to get to know you, that they are friendly. Art is something that everyone can appreciate and not something threatening to befriend. I kept the playful attitude and incorporated many colors and different versions of the same font for the text.

The sentence "Maybe a few Dianes and Charlies too" is to show that everyone has art inside them. People and their thoughts and personalites are what makes things interesting and creative. Art is just a name. It's not what makes Art in the poster an individual. It's who people are and what they do.

This project was a blast. I want to be a graphic artist because I have always admired and found myself fascinated by magazines, posters, toy boxes etc... I like having something to work on that makes me excited.

I feel very passionate about art and I like the challenge and the rush it gives me. Art always has that effect on me. No matter how frustrating it can be at times, I love having something to show for all my hard work. The idea of things I've drawn and created being used is really neat. I work hard and I want to improve. I believe at one point I can stand up to the art I have admired over the years.
