The Art Institute of Salt Lake City Appoints President
SALT LAKE CITY (July 5, 2007) The Art Institute of Salt Lake City has appointed Dr. Darren Adamson as president. Adamson joins The Art Institute with more than 20 years experience in professional higher education, teaching and leadership.
As president, Adamson is responsible for overseeing and serving students from admission through degree completion, as well as to ensure standards for the school's quality academic programs. He will also facilitate the successful launch of the new Art Institute of Salt Lake City, with classes scheduled to begin August 16, 2007.
"It is a privilege to lead such a premier school that is dedicated to providing the best educational experience to our students and the community," said Dr. Adamson. "I look forward to working with the devoted faculty members at The Art Institute of Salt Lake City, and join them in the goal of becoming the primary institution for creative arts in the Salt Lake and surrounding areas."
Most recently, Adamson served as the president of Argosy University's Inland Empire campus in San Bernardino, CA. In addition, he served as vice president/campus director of the Colorado and Cheyenne campuses of the University of Phoenix, and as an instructor with the university. He also worked as a research associate at Brigham Young University and the University of Utah Gerontology Center, and taught child and family studies as an adjunct professor at Weber State University.
Adamson received his PhD and Master of Science degrees in Marriage and Family Therapy from Brigham Young University. In addition, he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Family Relations from Weber State University, with a minor in Political Science.
