Project Runway Superstar Jerell Scott Signs On As Celebrity Guest Judge At The Art Insitute Of California — San Diego's Liquid Runway Fashion Show
SAN DIEGO, CA – April 14, 2009 – Project Runway, Season Five, runner up, Jerell Scott, signs on as celebrity guest judge for The Art Institute of California, San Diego’s Liquid Runway Fashion Show, celebrating the inaugural graduating class of the Fashion Design and Fashion Marketing & Management programs. The show, also presented by Westfield UTC, and Channel 933, will be held at The Hard Rock Hotel, 207 Fifth Avenue, Saturday, May 30, 2009.
Scott and his partner designer Ani Lee own the Jane Doe John Doe Boutique; the outrageous high-end boutique that only the very fashionable LA-lites know about. In addition to Scott’s exclusive pieces, the boutique has recently added Scott’s latest streetwear collection of truly original and edgy racerback tanks, chained sweatshirts, and deconstructed shirts. It’s also selling exclusive collections from other “Project Runway” alumni such as Season Five winner Leanne Marshall, and fellow contestants Korto Momolu, Stella “Zotis” Barbarella, and Emily Brandle’s “Smoke & Mirrors.”
Inspired by life and the experiences he has been through and continues to go through, Jerell Scott classifies his designs as "raw beauty." He works with recycled materials which bring a sense of newness to the uniqueness of his urban pieces. Channeling his vision and talent into a direction of his own, Scott incorporates recycled materials into his eclectic and unique designs. His inspiration comes from life and culture.
“We are extremely excited that Jerell has joined us in not only celebrating the work of The Art Institute of California, San Diego fashion department, but supporting the EDMC Education Foundation and City of Hope,” says, Sheena Gao, Academic Director of Fashion Programs. “His outgoing personality and creative genius compliment the show in more ways than one and our students are truly inspired by his designs.”
