[SAN FRANCISCO, CA, MAY 20, 2011]- Join the students and faculty for a spectacular evening of fashion and style at The Fashion Line Up Show, The Art Institute of California— San Francisco’s Student Fashion Show and Competition. The Fashion Line Up will be held at the San Francisco Design Center (101 Henry Adams Street) on Saturday, June 18, 2011 with a reception at 7pm and the show at 8pm. The Fashion Line Up gives The Art Institute of California— San Francisco students the opportunity to parade their collections down the runway to an audience of 1,400 guests, including industry professionals, Bay Area designers, fellow students, family, and friends.
The Fashion Line Up focuses on the creative interpretation of designers who break traditional laws of fashion in order to custom design their own rules. The Art Institute of California— San Francisco’s Fashion Line celebrates the talents of the Fashion Design and Fashion Marketing departments in a collaborative effort to promote student entrepreneurial spirit. This year, the students have been challenged to push their own creative boundaries and provide an amazing collection of work that will leave the audience on the edge of their seats.
“Our fashion show is the largest student produced fashion show on the West Coast. I am constantly moved by the maturity and leadership provided by our students. They are exemplary role models who inspire each other to create and execute a professional fashion show. The Fashion Line Up is sure to cause some commotion with style and creative details that are unique and diverse,” said Angella Hoffman, Academic Director of the Fashion Marketing & Management Department.
This unique and fabulous event will showcase over 100 looks from 18 designers. The full range of fashions on the runway will portray emerging and avant-garde trends, with a predominant focus on menswear. Academic Director for the Fashion Design Department, Bo Breda, comments, “I am bowled over from the realization that our students' annual show has become the class stop for contemporary men's and women's sportswear.”
A panel of industry professionals will judge the designs as the models saunter down the runway. The judges will then decide whose designs received top marks for various categories, including “Most Creative” and “Best Design.” Students with the highest scores will be acknowledged at the show and awarded with special prizes. "Each year the students keep raising the bar both conceptually and professionally," states Instructor Clarissa Nicosia, who helps guide the students during production.
