Students at The International Culinary School at The Art Institute Offer a Taste of Charity

Culinary students relieve the heat of finals by hosting a fundraiser to benefit Africa Aid and Slow Food

SAN DIEGO, CA March 10, 2008 - Students studying at The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of California – San Diego will host a breakfast and luncheon in The Palette on Tuesday, March 18, 2008, benefiting, ‘Africa Aid’ and ‘Slow Food.’

This benefit marks the second of its kind for Chef Miller’s Current Cuisine class. “It’s remarkable how these students have embraced giving back to the community while also focusing on final exams,” said Chef John Miller, Instructor at The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of California - San Diego. “They’ve come together as a team to benefit two worthy causes.”

Beginning at 8:30 am in The Palette, students will be serving a six-course breakfast for $25.00 and at 1:30 pm, a seven-course lunch for $30.00. “I like the fact that I can interact directly with Africa Aid and know that my efforts are enriching the lives of those in need,” said Lucas Schunot, sixth-quarter Culinary Management student at The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of California – San Diego. “Everyone in the class felt strongly about supporting a cause in which they could see the fruits of their labor.”

For reservations, please call 858.598.1405 or email Ai_Africaaid@hotmail.com for morning service and Ai_slowfood@hotmail.com for afternoon service. All proceeds will be donated directly to Africa Aid and Slow Food. Log on to artinstitutes.edu/sandiego to view detailed menus.
