The Art Institute of California — San Francisco′s Non-Profit Film Challenge

Film students have one week to create a 60-second video for a Bay Area non-profit. Non-profits will get to use the video for promotion; students benefit from real-world experience.

[SAN FRANCISCO, APRIL, 2009] – The Art Institute of California — San Francisco announces the Digital Film & Video Production non-profit student film challenge. The challenge provides students with the opportunity to work with real-world clients, while benefiting non-profit and charitable organizations throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.

Students will create a short 60-second promotional video for a designated non-profit. Once the project is finished, the non-profit will have the opportunity to use the video for promoting their organization.

The Art Institute of California — San Francisco film students will have one week to complete the project in its entirety. The project will begin on Sunday, April 19th and must be completed (and turned in) on Sunday, April 26th. At the close of the project, films will be juried by a panel of The Art Institute of California — San Francisco film professionals and a winner will be determined. The winning group will receive dinner and tickets to the Robert Redford Tribute at the San Francisco International Film Festival on Wednesday, April 29.

All films entered into the competition will be screened at Delancey Street on Tuesday, April 28. Non-profits involved in the project are encouraged to attend the screening.

Non-profits interested in the challenge were required to submit a letter of interest that provided an overview of their company, the reasons why they would like The Art Institute of California — San Francisco film students to produce their video, and a few ideas on the type of film that they are looking for. The non-profits who have been accepted into the challenge will be announced on Monday, April 20.
