The Art Institute Call for Submissions: Virgins & Rejects Film Festival

[SAN FRANCISCO, CA, AUGUST, 2009] - The Digital Filmmaking & Video Production department at The Art Institute of California- San Francisco proudly presents the first annual Virgins & Rejects Film Festival. The festival is open to all filmmakers who have either never submitted their films to a festival before or have been rejected from a previous festival and are still trying to get their film screened.

The Virgins & Rejects Film Festival provides an opportunity for those in the Bay Area - and beyond - to showcase their work on the big screen. In addition, the film festival is an opportunity for beginning filmmakers to expose their work to a broader audience and get some recognition and feedback on their films.

"In the Digital Filmmaking & Video Production program, it's all about real world experiences," says Lexi Leban, Academic Director of Digital Filmmaking & Video Production. "The students are curating and exhibiting a film festival in the best indie film city in the US. As a result, they are creating an opportunity for up and coming filmmaker to find an audience for their work."

The Film Festival class at The Art Institute of California - San Francisco is currently seeking submissions for the Virgins & Rejects Film Festival. Submissions can be of any genre, and should range in length from 1-10 minutes. A full list of submission guidelines can be found at the official Virgins & Rejects website. Submissions must be received by September 3, 2009.

Once all of the submissions are in, the students in the Film Festival class will jury the entries and choose the best films from each category. The films will be screened at the Virgins & Rejects Film Festival held at the Victoria Theatre on Friday, October 2^nd, 2009 at 6pm. Tickets are $5 for students with school I.D. and $8 for general admission.
