Film Students Hit the Airwaves on San Francisco's Public Access Station

Three shows developed by film students at The Art Institute of California - San Francisco's Video Production Class will be aired from now until the end of June on Channel 29.

[SAN FRANCISCO, CA, MAY 2009] - Film students from The Art Institute of California - San Francisco have been given the opportunity to air their shows on San Francisco's public access station. All three of the half hour shows will play back-to-back from 7:00pm to 8:30pm on Monday nights from mid-May through the end of June. To view the films on the web, go to Access SF and then click on the Access SF 2. The titles of the shows are "The Fog", "Le' Show" and "The Sticks".

"This is an excellent way for our students to get their work out there and be seen by the public," says Lexi Leban, Academic Director of Digital Filmmaking & Video Production at The Art Institute of California - San Francisco. "We have developed a great relationship with Access SF and our students have learned a tremendous amount by being able to interact directly with a local television station."

The three shows that are currently being aired on Access SF include "The Fog", "Le' Show", and "The Sticks". "The Fog" concentrates on the local independent movie, music and art scene in and around the Bay area. It includes interviews and live performances by local musician NVS, and a conversation with Carl Sturgess, a skateboard and rollerblade film producer and the camera man of the new full length feature "Bunny Suits".

"Le' Show" is a late night talk show and format comedy, in the vein of Saturday Night Live. During this half hour of comedy, Le' Host talks to in-house guests and goes out into downtown San Francisco in search of on-the-street interviews. The Le' Comedy team brings to life various fictional characters from a French tattoo artist named Le' Needle, the one-man-band Le' Drummer, and the lucky winner of a brand new car.

Another comedy in the line-up, "The Sticks" comes from student film writer/producer Michael Ward, along with a team of artists, actors and filmmakers. A family of Popsicle sticks jumps into the real world as they arrive one-by-one to keep their appointments at their shared psychiatrist's office. The visits, which involve talking about each other and themselves, build up the comedic storyline. A great miniature set design is mixed with some kooky characters and a homemade soundtrack in order to make this an entertaining visit to The Sticks.
