Student Life

IT'S YOU WE'RE THINKING OF

From housing to a culture of learning, take a look at this network of services intended to help handle the details so you can focus on your education.

What is the Housing like?

The studio units house two students and are furnished with two standard twin beds, one desk, a dining room table and two chairs, a dresser, side table and lamp. They have separate kitchens with full-size refrigerators, sinks and stoves. Most of the studios have large closets for storage and a vanity separate from the bathroom.

The two bedroom apartments have either one or two bathrooms. Each bedroom has two standard twin beds, a dresser, and a lamp, with a full-size closet to share. The living and dining room area includes a sofa, dining table and four chairs, and a floor lamp. All of the two bedrooms have full size kitchens.

The three bedroom townhouses are two stories and have two bathrooms, a full-size kitchen, and washer dryer. Just as in the two bedroom apartments, each bedroom has two twin beds, a dresser, a lamp, and a full-size closet to share. The living and dining room areas include a sofa, dining table and chairs, and a floor lamp.

All students need to provide their own pots, pans, cooking utensils, cutlery and crockery for the kitchens, as well as linens, towels and personal items for the apartment. All of the apartments are cable, internet and phone ready. It is the responsibility of each of the residents to purchase service through a local provider for cable, internet and phone. Buildings in both complexes have locked front doors, and washer and dryers.

APARTMENTS
Students have two choices for same-gender residency as part of School-Sponsored Housing. Westlake Village Apartments (located in Daly City) offer studio (2 occupants) or two-bedroom units (4 occupants). The Fillmore Center (located in San Francisco) offers two-bedroom (4 occupants) and three-bedroom units (6 occupants). All apartments are furnished with beds, desks and chairs, dresser(s), kitchen table with chairs, and lamps. Each of the apartments has a full kitchen and 1 - 2 bathrooms per unit. Although the student occupied apartments are within the same complex, neighbors may be non-students.

ASSIGNMENTS
Roommate and apartment assignments are completed two weeks before the move in date. You should expect a letter in the mail notifying you of your roommates' names, contact information and new address, within 14 days of move in. Assignments are based on the lifestyle preferences listed on the Housing Application. Students may request a specific roommate, provided the requested roommate has also agreed to the arrangement. While every effort is made to match students who have like interests and personality traits, limited space sometimes makes ideal matches challenging at best. The best way to ensure a good match is to get the application and deposit in early.

FINANCING
School-Sponsored Housing may be financed through financial aid loans, grants or scholarships to those who qualify. Housing charges are based on a per-quarter rate. Charges may be included in the student's financial plan. The Student Financial Services staff can answer questions about how housing charges may affect monthly or quarterly payments.
