About Seattle
Seattle

What makes our community special begins with where we are. Our environment, outside and in, helps define our character and personality. It provides the foundation for who we are and what we do.

Living in the Pacific Northwest does something to people. It's easy to keep things in perspective when you can balance the pace of urban life with natural wonders. There's room to roam, places of silence, and environments where action invites exhilaration. Wide open spaces encourage open minds. The Northwest is a place that inspires respect for individuality and personal expression.

Seattle

Jet City. Latté Land. The Silicon Forest. Whatever you call it, Seattle is an amazing place. It's a young city, founded in the 1850s by people who came to the frontier to build new lives: Denny, Mercer, Yesler, Boren and Bell. The architects of early Seattle laid a lasting foundation that still rewards individuality and entrepreneurship. Today, instead of lumber and trapping, it's software, airplanes and coffee. Seattle is in many ways still a frontier city - open to new ideas and offering those who come here a place to make a fresh start.

Big enough to support both highbrow culture and experimental art. Small enough to find where you fit in. Music and art spills from galleries and theaters onto the street with year-round festivals and events. There is a spirit here that you don't find in other cities to sample something new, to make it part of your life.
