How to Be a Successful Student

Have a positive attitude.
Go to class prepared.
Practice good listening skills. Take notes.
Keep a calendar to track important appointments and deadlines.
Don’t be afraid to ask for help.
Seek out a tutor if you’re falling behind in a class. The Education Services department offers program-specific, one-on-one peer tutoring.
Get involved in school projects and clubs. This is a great way to meet new people and make new friends.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, visit with a counselor in Student Affairs. They are here to help you.
Get out and play! Seattle is a wonderful city – visit the art museums, take a ferry ride, tour the Pike Place Market. Look for creative inspiration!
