The Art Institutes Study Abroad Program
We'd Like You To Leave The Country....With Us
At The Art Institutes, our programs offer students the hands-on creative education they need to prepare for careers in the fields of media arts, design, culinary arts, and fashion.
However, the most valuable experience that an Art Institutes education may provide is one that turns the entire world into an exciting and dynamic classroom. The Art Institutes Study Abroad Consortium is dedicated to giving our students the chance not only to deepen their knowledge in their chosen career field but also to broaden their world view by adding a global perspective that will help them compete in today's increasingly global economy.
Have An Adventure - And Add An Accent To Your Resume
The learning experience isn't limited to finding our how other countries approach media arts, fashion, design, and culinary arts. Studying aboard can prepare you to function in a different culture, strengthen your independence, and improve your future job prospects.
Learning how to maneuver in a new city, with different customs and language, will enhance your flexibility, teamwork, and originality while building your self-confidence and adaptability - exactly the skills that employers in our global economy are increasingly looking for.
But studying abroad will also change you in ways that will surprise you. It will open your mind, evolve your thinking, and expand your world. In short, it's an experience you couldn't get any other way.
Find Out What A Quarter Can Get Your Overseas
You can choose a for-credit or not-for-credit program lasting as long as a quarter or as little as a between-quarter break. All are led by Art Institute instructors. Most relate specifically to one of our programs of study.
Short-term trips usually take place during the breaks between winter and spring, between spring and summer, and between summer and fall. Quarter-abroad program s may take place during any quarter of the year. Quarter-abroad classes may be held in classrooms in student residences or at nearby schools.
Every attempt is made to offer a wide range of courses, both general education and program-related, to correspond with the facilities available in the county you'll visit and with the scheduled activities in which you'll participate.
Experience Global Dorming
On a typical short-term trip, you can expect to stay in a three-star or higher hotel with double accommodations and private bath. In a quarter-abroad program, you might find yourself in an 18th-century French chateau, a three-star hotel, a student hotel, or in an extended-stay hotel apartment with kitchenette. Students on these longer programs are nearly always housed in double rooms with shared bath on the hall, though a few single rooms, some with private baths, may also be available for an additional fee.
In most programs breakfast is provided daily, in addition to many other meals. In others, three meals a day are provided almost every day while in other programs, you might receive a weekly meal allowance.
An Art Institutes Education Can Really Take You Places
Our students have embarked on customized trips that have included everything from hands-on culinary classes at a famous school in Vienna to meeting with an Art Director for a tour of his design studio in Germany and a chance to discuss the German design industry. A variety of cultural activities ranging from museum tours to vineyard visits to Paris pastry tastings have also taken place in past study aboard short-term trips and quarter-abroad programs.
All group outings are carefully planned to expose students to the international aspects of their academic program and to offer a global view of possible careers in their filed of study, while broadening their cultural knowledge and enhancing their understanding of their place in the world.
The architecture, the history, the diversity, the entire experience will change and enrich you in ways you will always appreciate.
