Eric Frauwirth to lead new culinary arts and management programs for The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of California – Sunnyvale
SUNNYVALE, Calif. – (April 23, 2008) The Art Institute of California – Sunnyvale, the Silicon Valley’s new creative arts school, today announces Eric Frauwirth as Academic Director of Culinary Arts for the location’s International Culinary School. Frauwirth will provide leadership in implementing and developing curriculum, recruiting faculty and managing the school’s culinary degree programs to ensure students are prepared to succeed in the field.

Frauwirth brings more than 10 years of combined experience as an educator and culinary professional to The Art Institute of California – Sunnyvale. Frauwirth previously served as Assistant Pastry Chef at Sun Valley Resort in Sun Valley, Idaho. He also honed his skills in the classroom as Associate Professor in the Pastry department at Johnson & Wales University in North Miami, Florida. Additionally, Frauwirth has served as Chef Instructor at the California School of Culinary Arts (Pasadena, California) and New York Institute of Technology (Central Islip, New York).
The newest destination for culinary education in the South Bay, The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of California – Sunnyvale offers a Bachelor of Science program in Culinary Management and Associate of Science program in Culinary Arts. The Culinary Arts associate's degree program consists of courses including international cuisine, à la carte, sauces, American regional cuisine, charcuterie, classical cuisine, baking, pastry and culinary skills. Instruction in kitchen management, purchasing and cost control, menu design and dining room operation provides students with a solid business background. Students in the Culinary Management bachelor’s degree program practice classical French cooking techniques, develop skills in ethnic cuisine, food and wine pairing and food styling, as well as complete coursework in management, menu design, restaurant design and wine and spirits. All students gain hands-on experience operating the on-campus restaurant and working in modern kitchens.
