The Art Institute of California, Sunnyvale is a design, media arts, fashion and culinary college that provides a career-focused education. Curricula are reviewed regularly to ensure they meet the needs of a changing marketplace to prepare graduates to seek entry-level positions in their chosen fields. The Art Institute of California, Sunnyvale opened its location and began enrollment for classes in 2008. In 2012, the eight Art Institute of California campuses (San Diego, Los Angeles, Hollywood, Inland Empire, Orange County, San Francisco, Sacramento, and Sunnyvale) combined to create a single college of art and design within the Argosy University system, known as The Art Institute of California, a college of Argosy University. As part of the transition, The Art Institute of California campuses changed their national accreditation to regional accreditation status. The building's interior is designed with the creative student in mind. Light, spacious classrooms, studios and labs, library, and a student operated restaurant supervised by professional faculty offer a productive working atmosphere.
Facilities and Equipment
The Art Institute of California, Sunnyvale occupies approximately 53,000 square feet. In addition to classrooms, studios, laboratories, offices, student lounges, a library, and an exhibition gallery, The Art Institute of California, Sunnyvale maintains an art supply store for the convenience of students. Equipment provided at The Art Institute of California, Sunnyvale is specific to the program of study. This includes, but is not limited to projectors, editing decks, PC and Macintosh computers, printers, and equipped kitchens.
Class size will not exceed 35 students in lab sessions and 40 students in lecture sessions.
Each student will be able to acquire an understanding of the fundamental principles of equipment that he/she would be likely to encounter in an entry-level position in the field. Such equipment must be shared by students. Accordingly, The Art Institute of California, Sunnyvale cannot guarantee students hands-on usage of equipment beyond that called for in the curricula. To complete the requirements of the program, each student may find it necessary to schedule use of the equipment outside the normal classroom hours.
