How to Apply for Financial Aid
Federal Loan Applications: Student
To apply for a Federal Stafford Loan (student loan), you will need to print, sign, and mail the Promissory Note. If you do not have a printer, you can request that we mail one to your home. Read the promissory note before you sign it. It is a legal document requiring you to pay back the money you borrow. Be sure to answer all of the questions on the application carefully, and accurately, and completely. These are the grade level maximums. You can apply for up to these amounts:
Grade Level | Dependent Student | Independent Student |
| 1 | $3,500 | $7,500 |
| 2 | $4,500 | $8,500 |
| 3 + 4 | $5,500 | $10,500 |
Before you receive a loan, you will need to participate in a loan counseling "Entrance Interview". There is a link to a website where you can take the test; make sure you print out the confirmation page because you will need to provide that before your loans will be distributed. Before you leave school, you will need to participate in a loan counseling "Exit Interview".
Federal Loan Applications: Parent
An eligible parent qualifies for Federal PLUS (parent loan for undergraduate students) Loans while their dependent son or daughter attends school. To apply for a PLUS loan, one of your parents must complete the pre-approval form. (school code 008878-05) Even if the parent is not interested or knows they will not qualify to take out the loan, it will be beneficial to get pre-approved on it anyway, because if you are denied the loan the student may be eligible to borrow additional federal loan money. The parent can wait until the financial plan is complete to decide whether they want to actually take out the loan or not, and if so, how much they would want to borrow. If your parents do decide to take the loan out they will need to print, sign, and mail the Promissory Note back to the school. If you do not have a printer, we will be happy to mail you the promissory note, and your parent will need to sign it and return it to us.
Supplemental Data Form
In addition to the loan application, students who apply for a loan will need to complete a Supplemental Data Form.
State Grant Application
When a student completes a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) the information is sent to the state of residency so that the student can be considered for state grant eligibility, if applicable.
If the student is enrolled in a Bachelor program, has been a FL resident for over a year, and has over a 2.0 GPA they may be eligible for our Florida Able Grant.
