All applicants to The Art Institute of Tampa must demonstrate
proof of high school graduation or its equivalent prior to
receiving final acceptance. Official or unofficial copies of
transcripts are acceptable. Official transcripts must be mailed
or delivered in a sealed envelope or can be faxed directly to
The Art Institute of Tampa from the school attended. All
transcripts or copies of transcripts must show grades for all
years of high school attended, date of graduation, and grade
point average. Documentation of high school equivalency
requirements or GED must show scores that prove satisfactory
completion. An applicant still attending high school will be
considered for early acceptance, contingent upon proof of
graduation.
Transfer students who submit official college transcripts do
not need to show proof of graduation. Additionally, students who
have completed an associate’s degree or higher are exempt from
demonstrating proof of high school graduation, provided, however,
that the school or campus can prove that the associate’s degree
was an academic degree fully transferable to a bachelor’s degree.
A certificate of attendance or completion is not acceptable as
proof of graduation. Students who present exceptional diplomas will
be required to complete the College Bound Program with a grade of
“B” or better to gain acceptance at The Art Institute of Tampa.
You will also be interviewed, either in person or by telephone,
to explore your background and related interests in correlation
with the program offerings. In addition, you must independently
conceive and write an essay approximately 150 words in length
on how you expect your education at The Art Institute of Tampa
to help you attain your career goals.
Each applicant’s academic transcript and completed
essay will be evaluated by the Admissions Acceptance Committee.
The committee determines the compatibility of the applicant
with the programs at The Art Institute of Tampa and ultimately
makes the final decision regarding acceptance to The Art Institute
of Tampa.
The committee reserves the right to request additional records
of accomplishments in core academic courses and/or the results
of any nationally-based exam such as the SAT or ACT prior
to making this decision.
A separate Application for Admission and Enrollment
Agreement form must be completed and signed by the applicant and his/her parent
or guardian (if the applicant is a minor). The forms must then be submitted to
The Art Institute of Tampa with $150.00 ($50.00 application fee and $100.00 enrollment
fee) for processing.
Although a visit to The Art Institute of Tampa is not a requirement
for submitting an application form and enrollment agreement
for acceptance, prospective students are encouraged to schedule
an interview with one of our admissions representatives to
discuss special needs, long-term or short-term goals, and
lifelong career aspirations.
