THE ILLINOIS INSTITUTE OF ART–TINLEY PARK OFFERS NEW DIPLOMAS IN
WEB DESIGN, DIGITAL IMAGE MANAGEMENT AND FASHION RETAILING
New Programs Geared To Those Who Want To Update Their Skills

TINLEY PARK, ILL. – May 2, 2011 – The Illinois Institute of Art-Tinley Park, which opened doors to students on April 4, 2011, is offering four new diploma programs designed to give students an edge in their careers.

The programs, Web Design & Development, Web Design & Interactive Communications, Digital Image Management and Fashion Retailing, each include 12 or more courses and can be completed in a year. Courses are available online, as well as in the classroom days, evenings and weekends.

“These are fields that offer many career opportunities, but employers expect their workers to be current in the latest trends,” said Donna L. Gray, D.S., campus director of the Tinley Park school. “These diploma programs are designed for those students who may have some career experience  or those who might already have degrees but wish to study another field, as well as those who are looking to keep current in their present fields.”

The two Web Design diploma programs are designed to prepare students to create the look, feel and functionality of web pages, focusing on efficient and effective design, development and deployment of websites and mobile device applications. The Web Design & Development diploma program focuses on upfront design, while the Web Design & Interactive Communications diploma program focuses on the “back-end” supportive technology.

  • Web Design & Development: Students will focus on developing a design that effectively communicates the ideas being promoted by clients’ websites and optimizing information delivery. Core required courses include web scripting and animation, interactive authoring and web marketing and e-commerce law. Careers include corporate web design and updating, as well as design of social media sites.
  •  Web Design & Interactive Communications: Students will focus on computer languages, usability principles and information architecture of websites and receive training in web technologies. Courses include image manipulation, database management and interactive motion graphics. The diploma would prepare students for a variety of entry-level jobs, including coding and management of corporate websites.
  • Digital Imaging Management: Students are taught the basics of producing digital photographs and videos to effectively communicate ideas, as well as the techniques of digital editing, asset management, publishing and printing of digital files.  Courses include principles of photography, digital filmmaking, image manipulation and the business of photography.  Careers in the field range from working as a photographer’s assistant to doing photo restoration.
  • Fashion Retailing: Students will have an opportunity to learn how to combine creative and business skills to display, market and sell fashion merchandise, developing a keen awareness to the changing needs of the consumer.  Courses include textiles, principles of marketing, trends and concepts in apparel, and consumer behavior.  Employment  could include working as a buyer or in a fashion retail setting, from boutiques to department stores.
