The Art Institute of Tucson’s Master Chef Judges 2009 “Battle of the Chefs” Culinaire Malaysia Competition & Wins Service Excellence Award
March 23, 2009 –Master Chef Bill Sy, The Art Institute of Tucson’s Academic Director of Culinary Arts, was selected to judge the prestigious “Battle of the Chefs” Culinaire Malaysia 2009 competition in Penang, Malaysia March 13 -15, 2009. Chef Sy participated on a panel of over 30 international judges from over 10 world countries, including Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, Myanmar, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, France, Ireland and United States.
To wrap up the competition, Chef Sy was proudly awarded the “Service Excellence Award” for his judging expertise and mentorship throughout the event.
The Culinaire Malaysia 2009 competition has received international recognition and is one of the biggest culinary events in Pan-Asia. There were 641 entries for the 36 categories of competition. Chef Sy judged seven categories of competition: Cold Display, Patisserie, Artistic, Hot Cooking, Team Challenge, Gold Opulence Service, and the Pub Challenge.
