Counseling Services

The Art Institute of Vancouver provides no-cost counseling services for students with the goal of fostering individual student success.

Common Areas of Focus in Student Counseling
Insecurity, stress, relationships, balancing school/work/family demands, confusion over personal goals, anxiety, anger, time management, depression, death or illness of loved ones, self-harming behaviors, sexual orientation and gender issues, family of origin issues etc.

How to Schedule a Counseling Appointment
Stop by the Reception desk to see if a counselor is available or to schedule an appointment. The staff member at the Reception desk has details on the counselors' hours and availability. You can also call the Reception desk at the numbers below:

Confidentiality
Information discussed or written within the counseling process is kept confidential except for the following exceptions defined by law:

  • in the case of child abuse
  • when a student is considered a danger to him/her self or others
  • with written permission of the student
  • or by court order

* The Art Institute of Vancouver has its main location at 3264 Beta Avenue in Burnaby and two centres of learning in Vancouver at 700-1090 West Georgia Street (Downtown) and 300-609 Granville Street (Dubrulle Culinary Arts). Each location is PCTIA registered and accredited.
