THE ART INSTITUTE OF VIRGINIA BEACH ANNOUNCES $9.99 LUNCH AT CRAiVE

Virginia Beach, VA – The Art Institute of Virginia Beach, a branch campus of The Art Institute of Atlanta, is pleased to announce the public opening of CrAive, the teaching dining room that provides culinary students with real-world experience in food preparation and dining room management.  CrAive is open for lunch service on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Guests can select from the prix fixe menu which includes an appetizer, entrée, and dessert for only $9.99.

Everything served at CrAive is prepared by upper-level students under the supervision of expert chef instructors as part of the Á La Carte Kitchen class. Patrons can watch the students in action through the wall of windows that separates the dining room from the kitchen. “We are very proud of our culinary program and now the public has the opportunity to see why,” said Marilyn Burstein, President of The Art Institute of Virginia Beach.  “Our culinary students have spent numerous quarters of study perfecting their techniques and studying cuisine. Now, they have the opportunity to demonstrate those skills.”

Culinary students also serve as wait staff and hosts in the student-run restaurant, learning ways to ensure exemplary customer service and staff management.  “The goal of this program is to develop culinary leaders. That’s what chefs do. They lead the kitchen, it’s not just cooking,” Culinary Department Chair, Chef Jeffrey Floyd said. “When our students graduate, they know how to run their own restaurant from picking a good location to designing a menu to managing the kitchen.” This well rounded approach is part of the Institute’s commitment to preparing students for the workforce.

Reservations are a must and can be made by calling the reservation line at 757-493-6839.  Seatings are available at 11:15 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays when classes are in session.  Please call the reservation line, leave a message, and you will receive a return call verifying your reservation.  CrAive is located at 4500 Main Street, Town Center, Virginia Beach.  *Large groups can be accommodated if reservations are made well in advance and the Dining Lab can seat 46 people at each seating.
