Enhancing Your Educational Experience
culinary school students

Become Part of the Student Body

From the moment you are accepted, you become part of an environment that supports your efforts to reach your educational and career goals. At The Art Institute of Virginia Beach, you enjoy small classes, hands-on learning, and close relationships with faculty and staff. With a student-faculty ratio of approximately fifteen to one, you are assured of personal attention.

But it’s not all study and classes. Between classes, you can hang out with your friends in the student lounge, catch the latest performance at Sandler Center for the Performing Arts, have a laugh at the Virginia Beach Funny Bone Comedy Club or make a purchase at nearby boutiques. There are plenty of social activities at The Art Institute—not to mention clubs and organizations oriented to your professional or personal interests.

Beyond the Campus

Beyond the college, you can enjoy everything a major metropolitan area can offer, from clubs and concerts to galleries and museums, Norfolk Tides baseball games to surfing or para-sailing at Virginia Beach. The Chrysler Museum and the d’Art Center in nearby Norfolk are wonderful resources for students of the arts, as are the Contemporary Art Center of Virginia, the Chesapeake Art Center, and the dozens of art galleries throughout the city. And there are terrific places to eat, from Ruth Chris’s Steak House to Kyushsu Japanese Restaurant to trendy cafés in Ghent and seafood all over Hampton Roads.

Making Friends

You find that those who were strangers at orientation are soon friends to hang out with, laugh with, and share ideas with.

And for practical advice, the Student Affairs Department is ready to help.
