(Dulles, VA- February 2012) In an age where high school students spend more hours texting and on Facebook, high school seniors in Loudon County are busy using the left sides of their brains to submit artwork into the Third Annual Loudoun County Public Schools & The Art Institute of Washington — Northern Virginia, a branch of The Art Institute of Atlanta, Student Senior Art Show.
"All of the participants in this show are creative thinkers and problem solvers who have contributed to our community by sharing their art," said Melissa Pagano, Art Supervisor for Loudoun County Public Schools. "I hope that our student artists continue their journey in art, and allow themselves the opportunity to see things creatively from different perspectives everyday."
There will be a gallery reception for the High School Senior Art Show at The Art Institute of Washington — Northern Virginia, on Friday, March 2, 2012 at 6pm. All are welcome to the reception at no charge. The Art Institute of Washington — Northern Virginia is located at The Corporate Office Park at Dulles Town Center, 21000 Atlantic Blvd., Suite 100, Dulles, VA 20166 (Tel: 1.571.449.4400). Gallery dates are March 2, 2012 through April 6, 2012.
"The Art Institute of Washington — Northern Virginia is proud to partner with the Loudon County schools on this event. Encouraging young artists is one way in which our school can serve the community," said Gregg Crowe, Campus Director at The Art Institute of Washington — Northern Virginia.
At the reception, members of the Loudoun Education Foundation will present The Loudoun Education Foundation Purchase Award of $500 to the winning artist. The first place winner also will earn a $1,000 tuition scholarship to The Art Institute of Washington — Northern Virginia. The top three place winners will receive complimentary admission into the Summer Studio program at The Art Institute of Washington — Northern Virginia. Summer Studio is five days of creative workshops that put high school students in a hands-on, collaborative environment to learn new skills in order to create a final project under the artistic and technical guidance of industry-savvy instructors. The original art selected will later be on permanent display at the Loudoun County Public School Administrative building following the gallery exhibit at The Art Institute of Washington — Northern Virginia.
All workshops are non-credit bearing and do not transfer into any program offered at The Art Institute of Washington — Northern Virginia.
