Admissions Requirements
art and design school student

The Art Institute of York – Pennsylvania encourages applications from all qualified students. To be admitted to The Art Institute of York – Pennsylvania, you must be a high school graduate, or hold a State approved GED or its equivalent. Applicants are evaluated for acceptance based on their educational background and demonstrated ability in areas related to their chosen field. High school seniors can be accepted conditionally, based on a partial high school transcript; a final transcript would be requested after graduation from high school.

The admissions process begins with a personal visit to the school. Parents, spouse or significant others are encouraged to accompany prospective students during this process. A personal meeting will be arranged with an Admissions Representative who will conduct a school tour and review a prospective student’s background and career goals. A telephone interview may be substituted, with the approval of the Director of Admissions, for prospective students for whom distance is a barrier.

A portfolio review is an additional requirement for applicants to the Animation program. For applicants to all other programs, a portfolio is welcomed, but not required for admission. Detailed information about the portfolio review process can be obtained from the Admissions Office.
