What is Nancy doing today? Nancy was employed by Pfaltzgraff for 15 years as the Senior Designer. Pfaltzgraff is known across the country as a pioneer in high quality ceramics for the home. At the time of her departure she had designed over forty patterns that went to market. Six of her patterns have had long term success and can still be purchased today, such as Meadow Lane, April, Sunbury Grove, Cityscape, French Quarter and Orleans. She also had a hand in designing all of the products that went with the dinnerware such as glassware and wood products. One of her favorite things she enjoyed designing was stainless steel flatware. During her last few years that she was employed with Pfaltzgraff, Nancy worked directly with Nautica, which had commissioned Pfaltzgraff to create their own dinnerware patterns. Nancy's personal favorite became Nautica's Island Shores Collection, for which she traveled to New York and Japan to design and complete. Nancy left full time employment with Pfaltzgraff in 2002 to pursue her dream of starting her own business as a designer and fine artist. She still freelances for her old employer; for Christmas 2006 she designed a dinnerware pattern called Penguin Skate which she says brings a smile to her face every time she looks at those happy penguins. Creative inspiration Nancy has always wanted to create things of beauty that bring joy to people. She says that it gives her great happiness to hear how much people love their dinnerware that she designed or the fine art painting that is hanging in their home. Getting out there She was looking for a local art school and everything seemed to flow at Bradley Academy from the first open house she attended to enrolling. She loved any hands on classes from Illustration to Typography. While in school Nancy took a summer internship with Pfaltzgraff which definitely paid off because she was hired by them right after graduation. “Everyone has a dream that is unique to them. Follow your dream, be true to yourself, and always work with integrity.” -Nancy Stawitz
