The Are Institute of York Announces Poetry Contest Winners

An evening of poetry was held at The Art Institute of York on Friday, October 30. Winners of the student poetry contest include: Courtney Shumway, 1st place; Michele Lomardo, 2nd place; and Amanda Johnson, 3rd place. Honorable mention certificates were awarded to Joshua Jackson, and Kristen Brusstar.

This semi-annual event is hosted by Trish Yontosh, academic director of the general education department at The Art Institute of York. The theme for the event was tied in with Edgar Allen Poe’s dark poetry and a Halloween theme. The special guest for the ghoulish event was Carol Williams, York’s Poet Laureate.
