What's Kristen doing today?

Kristen is an interior designer and architectural design apprentice for Murphy Dittenhafer Architects in York, Pennsylvania. Kristen is responsible for a wide variety of tasks such as consulting with clients, surveying existing sites, working on construction documents, and selecting furniture and finishes to meet the needs of a given project.

Creative inspiration

Kristen attended Bradley Academy as a non-traditional student after a couple of years spent job and college hopping. Those experiences convinced her to pursue the interest in architecture and interior design she had felt since high school. She credits close relationships with college instructors and mentors as instrumental to her rapid professional success. A sense of adventure and fearlessness when it comes to trying new things has made Kristen more marketable and well-rounded and, Kristen says, provided the edge she's needed to distance herself from the ever-growing field of competitors in the interior design profession.

Getting out there

In her first position after graduation Kristen was fortunate enough to gain professional experience in a CAD production department. That exposure to production was critical to Kristen's candidacy and successful pursuit of her current position at the architectural firm. Now, she is fortifying her resume further by participating on design teams working on projects in New York City and Washington, D.C., most notably the Vatican Embassy.  In the nearly four years she's spent with Murphy Dittenhafer, Kristen has worked on several projects that have won American Institute of Architects Awards.

Kristen is a 2001 graduate from Bradley Academy's Interior Design program.
