What's Matt doing today?Matt works as Manager of Production Technologies for Pearson Education, a major textbook and educational book publisher. He manages the creation of art and the production process of college textbooks, physical media, and Web-based course materials, controlling the quality and precision of over 100,000 images per year as they appear on paper, CDs/DVDs, and the Web.
Creative InspirationLike a lot of aspiring artists, Matt knew at an early age what he did not want in a job -- boredom. Once he got to school at Bradley, he took a keen interest in the burgeoning world of the computer as a design tool. Adobe Illustrator 88 on a Mac IIc with a 9 inch black and white screen was his constant, "state of the art" companion in the early days. Matt also drew inspiration from learning design history and fundamentals. Even traditional production was interesting for Matt. He found the precision of the mechanical pens, amberlith, and registration and crop marks enticing.
Getting Out ThereA great designer and illustrator as well as an accomplished manager and technician, Matt has sought to keep himself active on the freelance market. One of Matt's clients is Major League Baseball; he helped create the souvenir collectible coloring books for several Major League teams Matt's also spent time imparting his knowledge and experience back to the students at Bradley through stints as an adjunct instructor, portfolio critic, PAC member, and alumni week panelist.
Matt is a 1990 graduate from the graphic design program at Bradley Academy.
