Library and Reference
In association with the Martin Memorial Library of York County, The Art Institute of York Pennsylvania houses a 1000 square foot library on the first floor of the School. In addition to general reference books, the library houses titles specifically related to programs offered at the School. Eight PC workstations with direct access to the Internet and to Martin Library's main holdings catalog are available for students. Open every weekday, the library features full-time staffing, inter- library loan, CD-ROM based reference material, and PC based business software for use by students and the public.
In addition to the library, each program has additional resource areas that contain materials specific to that course of study. For example, the Interior Design resource room has catalogs of furniture manufacturers, and a wide selection of fabric samples used for window treatments, wall covering or upholstery, tile samples, paint swatches, etc. The Fashion Marketing resource area includes commercial sewing machines, mannequins, and materials used for visual merchandising as well as industry-specific publications.
