Students in the culinary programs at The Art Institutes system of schools can have the opportunity to earn scholarships and build skills by showcasing their talents and determination in competitions.
An education at The International Culinary Schools at The Art Institutes presents students with a whole world of culinary experience. The international flavor of the program teaches aspiring culinarians about techniques and recipes from across the globe, even offering them opportunities to participate in competitions that help hone their skills and award scholarships.

In 2016, culinary students participated in a competition sponsored by Italian company Urbani Tartufi. Fourteen culinary artists, representing seven teams, had the exciting opportunity to compete in a truffle-themed culinary contest. The competition challenged each of our culinary students to practice their professional skills in an intense, real-world environment. To reach the competition finals, teams created two dishes—a “chef’s choice” (savory or sweet) and a main course. Their work was judged by professional Italian culinary artists.

The finalists were awarded scholarships by the Paolo Urbani Foundation to participate in a two-week, full immersion culinary course on Italian Cuisine at UDS (Università dei Sapori), in Perugia, Italy.

Competition winners also earned a trip to the “Truffle Experience at Urbani Tartufi,” which began in Umbria, Italy and ended at the Accademia del Tartufo in the Santa Sofia Province of Forli-Cesena, Italy, where professional chefs handed down their knowledge in the art of cooking truffles.

We’re proud of our students’ successes and encourage participation in competitions that help them to grow in their chosen field.
