Crystal Smith, who in 2015 earned a Baking & Pastry Diploma from The Art Institute of Michigan, was announced the winner of Food Network’s popular show, “Chopped.”
Smith said that she watched episodes of the show to prepare for the competition, which pits four cooks against each other—with a grand prize of $10,000. The contestants are required to create a dish from a mystery box of ingredients. There are four challenge rounds, and after each round, one participant is eliminated from the competition. At the end, Smith was left standing—and awarded the prize.
Smith is the owner of “You Had Me At Cake” and works as a pastry chef at Bayview Yacht Club in Detroit, where she’s known for her bourbon bread pudding.
