Physical & Mental Wellness for the Remote Student

When: Monday 12/18/2017 1:00pm-2:00pm ET

About: Join faculty member Natalie Hruska as she shares her personal path to wellness. She will provide tips and tools for remote students to achieve mental and physical well-being while meeting the demands of everyday life. Tips will include convenient exercise and healthy eating ideas as well as using a mobile app to manage these habits. We hope to see you for this great personal wellness event!

Holiday Escape 24 Hour GAME JAM

When: Friday 12/15/2017 8:00pm- Saturday 12/16/2017 8:00pm ET

About: Come build a game with your fellow students and just have fun! We plan to create a game inspired by the ups and downs of the holiday season. All are welcome, even if you are not yet an IGDA member. Escape the stress of the holidays for 24 hours and join us to make a fun game!

Researching Artists in the Online Library

When: Tuesday 12/5/2017, 7:00pm-8:00pm ET

About: Great event for new students! This webinar will guide you through finding information about artists, including biographical details, academic articles, and images for a given artist. We will look at resources in the Online Library as well as on the web.


Video Resources

When: Saturday 12/9/2017, 2:00pm-3:00pm ET

About: The Online Library contains a number of film collections, including documentaries and feature films. This webinar will review the various resources that can assist in film study.

Finding Biographies

When: Tuesday 12/12/2017, 8:00pm-9:00pm ET

About: Learn how to use the Online Library resources to find biographies. Biography Reference Center, Hoover’s Academic, Credo Reference, and EBSCOhost databases will be demonstrated to show you how to find biographical information in each of these library resources.

About: Great event for new students! The Online Student Support Specialists invite you to take part in this 60 minute live preparation session right from your computer. During this time, learn the features and functionality of the online classroom, where to go for help, what to do when you have a question, where to find available resources, and much more.

Graduation Information Session

When: Thursday 12/14/2017, 7:00pm-8:00pm ET

About: You are invited to join our Online Student Services team for an informational webinar discussing everything you need to know about Graduation! This webinar will provide information on the following topics: your diploma, transcripts, portfolio shows, commencement, career services, and the alumni website. You'll also have an opportunity to ask questions.

Internship Information Session

When: Wednesday 12/27/2017, 7:00pm-8:00pm ET

About: Join Online Student Services for an information session all about internships! In this presentation, we will discuss the purpose of an internship and its value in your academic and professional career; how to plan and prepare for an internship; how to find an internship; how to meet the requirements to participate in a for-credit internship; and a checklist of documentation that is required before you begin!

IGDA Weekly Meetings

When: Every Wednesday night! 9:00pm-10:00pm ET (No meeting 12/27)

About: IGDA’s national goal is to provide and promote a better understanding of the functions of game developing, game play and game distribution. In addition, IGDA offers members the opportunity to network and build contacts with each other and professionals in the industry and give hands-on experience.

Mad Professor’s Drawing Club

When: Several sessions this month!

About: Hosted by Professor Nina Stanley, these interactive drawing sessions will focus on techniques used in gesture drawing of humans and animals in various media formats. The sessions will feature live gesture drawing of figures and animals, anatomical study, media demonstrations, and will offer general artistic fun and comradery.

ART1000 Live!

When: Wednesday nights! 7:00pm-8:00pm ET (No session on 12/27)

About: The full-time faculty staff of the General Education Art Department will be hosting these one hour, weekly sessions to help you enrich your grasp of the material and gain useful assignment guidance. Individual questions will be answered so come ready to talk or just sit back and listen in. Extra credit will be offered! Students may earn 10 points per week for a total of 30 extra credit points in ART1000 for attending.

English Live!

When: Every Friday! 2:00pm-3:00pm ET (No session on 12/29)

About: Are you in an English course and not sure how to compose your thoughts into a paper? Are you struggling with transitioning from paragraph to paragraph? Could you use some help with grammar and sentence structure? Need to research a topic but are not sure where to start?If you answered yes to any of these questions, our virtual event English Live may be able to provide the help you need! This 60 minute, weekly study session is designed to address any questions you have regarding English, such as: Composition, Mechanics, Formatting, Research Techniques, and more! These virtual sessions are open to all students but we strongly encourage any student taking an English course to attend! Please come prepared with questions that we can address.

MTH1010 Live!

When: Monday nights! 7:30pm-8:30pm ET (No session on 12/25)

About: You are invited to a 60-minute weekly informal study session with a full-time math faculty member every Monday evening. These weekly sessions are designed to answer any questions you may have, help you enrich your grasp of the material and gain useful assignment guidance. Attending each session is worth 10 bonus points for a maximum of 30 points toward the total points earned for the MTH1010 course. Please come prepared with specific questions to help you best. Certainly all questions are welcome but general questions are difficult to answer in a short period of time.
